Introducing DSC2U Support Hour:
On August 28th from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM (PT), we will be hosting a Support Hour via Zoom. During this time, a DSC2U team member will be available to answer any questions you might have about how to sign up and use our service. Please note, this is not a time to ask about medical advice, but rather to help with the logistics of using the program.
What You Can Expect:
We’ll be there to walk you through the sign-up process.
We can help with any forms you need to complete.
You’ll have the chance to ask questions and get real-time assistance.

Building a Life of Possibilities... using SDP to open Doors!
It’s a new school year and we are getting ready for new programming at Club 21, beginning August 10th at Second Saturday.
Our goal at Club 21 is to equip and teach at every step of the journey so that individuals with Down syndrome will have:
• Opportunities for Lifelong Learning
• Independence/Interdependence
• Communities of Belonging
• Meaningful Employment.
Our theme this year is Building a Life of Possibilities. We will start our Speaker Series (10:00-11:30AM) by having Kelly Kulzer Reyes discuss Person Centered Plans (P*P) and how Self Determination Program (SDP) can open doors.

Registration is open for the 3Bs of Sexuality Conference - Bodies, Boundaries, Behaviors on July 19 - 20. This invaluable conference is presented by Terri Couwenhoven and helps families learn in a safe, comfortable and fun environment. Concrete teaching methods (videos, slides, pictures, games, activities) will be used to improve comprehension and help parents become more comfortable and confident toward helping their child/children understand body changes, self-care, and appropriate social behavior. This conference is not disability specific.

Cherisse Watts, PhD(c), RN, PHN, is running a study for her dissertation and looking for Black parents or guardians in California of a child 0-5 years who has a developmental delay or a developmental disability. Through her interviews, she hopes to get a better understanding from these parents and guardians of the decision-making process of seeking and obtaining timely formal developmental screenings and early intervention services for their child. Interviews will be 45-60 minutes, and participants will be compensated for their time with a $100 Amazon e-gift card.
Requirements to participate are: 1) You identify as Black/African American; 2) you are 18 years and older; 3) you are a primary parent or guardian to a child between 0-5 years old (meaning that you live with the child at least half the time and attend at least half of the child’s doctor/healthcare visits) 4) your child has a developmental delay or has been diagnosed with a developmental and/or intellectual disability; 5) you reside in California; 6) you are able to read, speak, and understand English, 7) you have a computer with a camera or smart phone for a virtual interview, and 😎 you are available within the next few days to meet over Zoom or Facetime for 45-60 minutes.
It’s our last session for club fun with our end of the year summer fun party.
