Thank you for your wonderful donations of gently used . We were able to about half of all donations. Special thanks to our for managing our retail boutique. The kids were great at managing their retail stations and even writing up receipts. They worked on their communication skills and problem solving skills by ensuring the bootique was well stocked, organized and all transactions had receipts. Special thanks to parent Hilary and parent Jonathan for drop offs and pick ups of supplies.

Reminder to bring your costumes by Thursday! We are organizing for the costume swap!

So much! Lion dancers from UCLA perform at 11.

Fun games and activities for kids and adults, from crafts to co****le to facepainting to making miniscapes!

Delicious food and drinks, including homemade Frito pie and baked goods.

Presentations by our students and parents on composting, the regular kind and the worm kind!

Finally, at 2PM, our beloved alums Frances and Ray will perform with their band, Liteheart!

Friends Western School still has a few spots in our warm and developmentally attuned Kindergarten class. In the Hummingbirds class children’s passionate interests, emotional intelligence, and drive to learn are all fostered to build a strong love of learning. We have been ahead of the curve on literacy for a while now, teaching the nuts and bolts of written language explicitly while also getting kids into reading and writing for authentic purposes right away.

Meet Friends Fest guest speaker Nicole Calhun!
Nicole Calhoun is a worker/owner at Artemisia Nursery in Los Angeles. She has a certificate in Ornamental Horticulture from Merritt College in Oakland and is a certified California Naturalist. Nicole has been working with plants for over a decade, first as a gardener and then as a nursery worker and garden designer. When she is not at the nursery, you can find her playing bass with California native plant band Sage Against the Machine.

Join us for a talk about growing native plants to support wildlife in our homes and communities.

What's all this fuss about fungi? Join expert Aaron Tupac-Thompson to learn more about the fungus among us at Friends Fest!

We welcomed our new friends from Friends Western School for a Food Pantry "tour & talk" last Friday. The 4th and 5th graders really enjoyed their visit and will be back at the end of the month to provide our pantry community with Breakfast Bites.
