2023-2024 All School Photo!
Welcoming alumni back to campus is always heartwarming, especially on Founders' Day! It was so nice to have former Board Chair Matt Wright '74 CHS '78 and his daughter Emily Wright '12 join students, faculty, and staff at Friday's All-School assembly. Matt's remarks were a beautiful tribute to Tom and Katie Chandler and our school's incredible 74-year journey, connecting our past to our present and sparking the question, "What if...?" These simple yet powerful words will continue to resonate throughout this school year encouraging our students to dream and aspire.
After the assembly, we gathered for our annual All-School photo, and then it was time for a beloved tradition - the Egg Drop! Our 8th graders did an egg-cellent job, but in the end, there was only one winner, and that honor went to Team Vasquez! 🏆
Thanks to members of our Alumni Council & Council Committees for their service at Friday's Pie 'n Burger Hot Lunch and to our 5th graders for their cheer and spirit.
Let's keep the Founders' Day spirit alive as we embark on another incredible school year!

Dear Chandler Community,
It is with heavy hearts that we inform you of the passing of Vernon L. Hill on October 30, 2022. Mr. Hill served the Chandler community for nearly 30 years (1964-1992) as the assistant head of school and teacher of Spanish, drama and ancient history. He is perhaps best remembered for the international excursions he planned and the plays he directed several times a year.
Chandler’s former Head of School Jeff Stephens reflects, “He was a legend and was truly loved and respected by everyone. As our assistant head of school, he was a master teacher who not only taught Spanish but at times, history, math and English - wherever the need. He was always there for all of us, sharing his love for Chandler. He was a gifted musician, writer and he will always be remembered for his wonderful drama productions and special dinners auctioned off at the annual CFA Gala. For Vern, every day was a new adventure begun with a smile and a positive word coupled with warmth and a sense of humor. He was a faithful husband, father and man of God.”
Each year, a Chandler 8th grader is appointed as the recipient of the Vernon L. Hill Citizenship Award, given to the student who is most courteous and cooperative, respectful and helpful to other students, faculty, staff and the School. With this award, we recognize Mr. Hill’s positive and lasting impact on generations of alumni.
During a past interview, Mr. Hill had expressed he “wanted the students to do their best, become their best and discover strengths within them they didn’t know they had and to carry on Chandler’s ideals of body, mind and spirit.” This is how Mr. Hill will be remembered by all of us who were blessed to know him as a teacher, colleague and friend.
Congratulations, Class of 2022!!! Welcome to the Chandler School Alumni Association!
