Wake Tech and Gregory Poole Equipment Co. are teaming up to offer in-demand apprenticeship opportunities for students who want to work on construction equipment. Gregory Poole, the exclusive Caterpillar dealer for eastern North Carolina, will hire up to 18 apprentices for the Fall semester through the WakeWorks® Apprenticeship program.

Apprentices will attend classes on campus two days a week as students in Wake Tech's Construction Equipment Systems Technology one-year diploma program. The remainder of the week will be spent at one of Gregory Poole's locations for on-site training that covers how to troubleshoot and repair diesel engines, power trains, transmissions, braking systems and hydraulics on heavy equipment.

The Cary Police Department Camp Confidence Program learned about our different HEATT Programs. They toured our facilities and had hands on activities with our Hydraulic Trainers, Diesel Engine Dyno, and they took rides in a John Deere 8R410 Hybrid Tractor. We had a great time with their visit and thank the Cary Police Officers that chaperoned the students! Wake Technical Community College

Students from Avery County High School came to learn about all the HEATT Programs we offer. We ran the John Deere 6090 iT3 Engine on our Dyno, gave rides in an 8R410 Tractor and discussed the program in detail.

We had a great turnout for our Annual HEATT Career Fair on Wednesday. We had 48 companies participate in supporting our Heavy Equipment, Diesel and Forklift Programs and Students.

Our Forklift Technician Diploma Program offers a great career in 1-year, employment while in school, and tuition reimbursement after graduation 🔧🚐 💰👩‍🎓👨‍🎓

This is Bradley. Just a couple of months ago he was working part time at a grocery store and decided he wanted to pursue an actual career with better pay and benefits. Within a short time he was enrolled at Wake Tech and has since secured a position as an Apprentice Technician with one of our sponsors, Gregory Poole Lift Systems
