Our garden is planted! We have had so much fun this year getting our garden ready. The kids planted the seeds and will help take care of the garden. We also started a rock garden! So much fun and learning.

Today we made fresh pumpkin purée. The kids did everything, except cut it of course. Next week we make fresh pumpkin muffins from scratch! Learning how to cook things in a more healthy way is a great skill for children to learn. Bon appétit.

The kids have been wanting to play Doctors Office so we turned our school into a doctors office. Dramatic Play helps kids learn flexible thinking, try adult roles, cooperate and so much more.

I have been working with children since I was a teenager. It is something that has always come naturally to me and providing high quality childcare is my passion. I love helping children learn and grown in confidence as they learn who they are and what they love. My curriculum style is emergent, meaning I plan it around the interests of the children in my care. Helping young children navigate feelings, learn how to express themselves to one another and work on their problem-solving skills is one of the most important parts of school readiness. Field trip to Golden Gardens.

Summer fun in the sun! Mud kitchen and water play.

In preparation for our trip to the zoo this week we are making dioramas of animal habitats. This one is elephants.

Today we went to the Olympic Sculpture Park. We made rock sculptures, and then explored the waterfront. What an amazing day!

Alberto Giacometti was a Swiss artist known for bronze sculptures of “stick figures.” In this art lesson the kids made their own “stick figure” sculptures doing different actions out of foil.

Dissecting the flowers from our Color Changing Flower experiment.

Experiments are a great hands on way for children to learn. Because we have planted a garden, the children are learning about how plants grow. In this experiment, we put food coloring into water then added white roses. The children then observed as the flowers drank the water. In the beginning, we even saw the colored water in the veins of the flower pedals.
