🎉 ✊ Happy Juneteenth! On June 19, 1865, federal troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, to declare the end of the Civil War and the liberation of approximately 250,000 enslaved individuals in Texas. This momentous occasion occurred two years after President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation.

The Junior League of Spokane commemorates the emancipation of ALL enslaved individuals in the U.S. Let's reflect on history and promote unity and equality.

✨✨We are beyond excited to announce that Amanda Henderson is the Junior League of Spokane's 2023-2024 Outstanding Active Member of the Year!✨✨

The Junior League of Spokane Outstanding Active Member of the Year award honors an Active Member who exemplifies the JLS Mission through her service to the Junior League and the Spokane community. We love celebrating Members who use the skills and experiences gained from the League to impact the community and bring our Mission to life.

Amanda Henderson embodies the Mission and Values of the Junior League of Spokane through her unwavering dedication and positive impact within our League. As the 2023-2024 Marketing & Communications Chair, Amanda fostered connections and growth while fulfilling her many responsibilities, positively impacting our League and enriching our community. The e-blasts, social media posts, LAAG, and Annual Report don't begin to reflect the amount of work Amanda puts into arranging, editing, and collaborating with the entire League membership to get these done. She also supported our Sustainer Director in cultivating connection and communication with the Sustainers.

Despite facing challenges like the Gray Fire, Amanda showed resilience and commitment to our Mission by asking how she could help with communications related to the fire and golf outing--while evacuating with her family. She is known for going beyond her duties by sharing opportunities and nurturing partnerships, reflecting the spirit of collaboration and community impact.

Amanda's influence extends beyond our League in the greater Spokane community, where she uses the skills, training, and resources she has gained through her time in the League and puts our Mission into action. Her work at Communities in Schools has brought invaluable connections and ideas, enhancing our outreach and partnerships. Amanda's proactive approach and generosity have left a lasting impact, showcasing her belief in advancing women's leadership for meaningful change.
