It is our pleasure to welcome Jerry White Jr. to the UCUT staff as our Environmental Coordinator.
Jerry has had a passion for Rivers and fish since he was taught to fish for salmon in the Willamette River with his grandfather. Jerry went on to be Executive Director for the Spokane Riverkeeper, where he worked for a decade to protect the Spokane River, collaborate with the Upper Columbia Tribes, and advocate for the larger community. Jerry has lived with his wife for 25 years a stone's throw from the waters and trout of the Spokane River and regularly boats, swims, and fishes the River.

It is our pleasure to welcome Caroline Keever to the UCUT staff as our Environmental Manager.
Caroline was born and raised in Manhattan Beach, California, but has spent the last eight years living in Spokane. She recently earned her Law degree (J.D.) from Gonzaga University, focusing on conservation and water issues. Caroline comes to UCUT with experience working with the Forest Service as a Hydrology Technician in the Colville National Forest, Earth Law Center on Snake River litigation, and Spokane Riverkeeper on Clean Water Defense. In her free time, Caroline enjoys hiking, playing beach volleyball, and continuing to learn the craft of fly fishing.

Since time immemorial, Indigenous peoples of the Columbia basin relied on a healthy and connected ecosystem that supported abundant salmon runs and resilient resident fish populations. That all changed with the development of dams along the Columbia River and its tributaries, which fragmented the ecosystem and limited fish movement. To right these historic wrongs, the five member Tribes of UCUT have taken the lead on reintroducing salmon, restoring resident fish habitats, and reconnecting fish, water, and people. UCUT is hiring! We are looking for an Environmental Project Manager and an Environmental Project Coordinator.
The UCUT Environment Manager will be responsible for managing the UCUT, EPA Indian Environmental General Assistance Program (GAP) and the Columbia River Toxics Reduction Lead Entity Project (CRTRLE). The main areas of expertise include project management, strong reporting and budget management skills and the ability to manage and monitor the toxics reduction lead entity and GAP projects.
The UCUT Environment Project Coordinator will be responsible for implementing the Columbia River Toxics Reduction Lead Entity Project (CRTRLE). Priority work elements include the development, coordination, distribution, and management of subawards.
Indian Preference will be applied to applicants for these positions.

The Upper Columbia United Tribes secured over $3 million in funding in the Washington State supplemental budget for salmon reintroduction in the upper Columbia.
These monies will go to three member tribes (Colville, Spokane, and Coeur d’Alene) to invest in efforts they are leading to restore salmon, revitalize tribal culture, and strengthen the region’s economy by implementing salmon reintroduction activities in the Spokane and Columbia rivers and their tributaries. The majority of these funds will be provided through the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, according to the supplemental budget that was signed by Governor Inslee on March 31, 2022.
