Meet your vice-presidential candidate, Gabe Trevino!
•What is your year and major?
I am a Sophomore. My major is Psychology w/ concentration of Occupational Therapy and Minor in Music.
•Why are you running for vice president?
I am running for Vice President not only to work alongside President Alondra, but to be able to make a difference on and off campus and get our student body back on their feet by participating in school and club events. I want everyone to know that I am there for YOU and I wish to uphold their dreams and what they want to see done on campus.
•What specific changes do you want to make as vice president next year?
The changes we want to make is to make the senate more fun and collaborative. As an SGA member, it is very overlooked to be an SGA senator and I want to make sure that everyone has an opportunity to be on the executive board, be a senator, and be able to be active in our community. President Alondra and I will be working on promoting the duties of senators and why it’s important, so that our numbers can grow. We look forward to meeting and seeing new faces, and are eager to get things going.
•Why should the students vote for you?
I’m not taking the position to have something on my resume, I’m here to make a difference. President Alondra and I are here to transform society in a fun and positive way, and what better way than to start on the ground of Newman University. I do my absolute best to be involved on and off campus so that I give the motivation our student body needs. If they need to see a friendly face in a random crowd, I will be that person.
•What is a weird fact about you?
Pineapple on pizza is delicious. Prove me wrong!
Last week the Jets Resource Hub had an event with free Chick-Fil-A to raise awareness for this SGA funded hub. Located in McNeill 123, the JRH provides students with access to a variety of non-perishable food items, drinks, clothing, school supplies, and personal hygiene products free of charge. All students are welcome to its resources and they do not have to be suffering from financial insecurity to obtain items. Keep an eye for more events with free food and information!

•Why are you running for president?
I had the honor of serving as the Student Body President this year and I really enjoyed making new connections whether it was on campus or outside of campus. I would love another opportunity to grow student involvement on campus along with my team.
•What specific changes do you want to make as president next year?
The changes I would like to make along with my team is to make the senate more fun and collaborative. VP Trevino and I will work on promoting the duties of senators and why it’s important, so that our numbers can grow. We look forward to meeting and seeing new faces and are eager to get things going!
•Why should the students vote for you?
VP Trevino and I are really involved on campus, but we are involved in different things. This means we can reach the majority of the student body making it easier for us to hear your (the student body) needs and wants!
