At age 15, Newman alumna Teresa Lovelady was homeless and caring for her younger siblings. Today, she is the President and CEO of HealthCore Clinic. She received her bachelor’s from Chicago State University and her masters’ degrees in social work and business administration from Newman University. She was the recipient of the Spirit of Acuto Alumni Award from Newman University.

Open position- VISTA Grief Specialist: Children1st is seeking someone to build grief programs for low-resource students (those living in poverty) who have experienced loss, using the Bridges Out of Poverty concepts. This will include developing grief camps, a Grief Response Team for schools, and in-school grief sessions. This is a one year commitment, working full-time (35 hours per week) through the VISTA program (Volunteers In Service to America), with a living allowance ($15,000 per year) plus end of service award (education for $6,300 or other).
