During Level One you learn how to practice Reiki on yourself. When you practice Reiki on yourself your system rebalances and you begin to heal.

International Friendship Day is coming up. Do you treat your friends with Reiki? How do they respond?
Here's one of my closest friends, Willie Walsh. Will is a logical, grounded civil engineer who is open to Reiki practice. Will and I met when we were housesharing, over a decade ago. Since then Will has received Reiki for musculoskeletal tension, a broken wrist and a stomach bug.
What I appreciate most about Will is his supportive nature (especially during Melbourne's lockdowns), his positivity and his grounded, open-minded attitude.
Will felt better after his Reiki treatments. How do your friends respond to Reiki?

Before learning Reiki in 2002 I didn’t know that I could practice Reiki on myself. My motivation for learning was to help other people feel better. It was a pleasant surprise to discover that I could practise Reiki on myself as well. Since 2002, self-Reiki practice has been invaluable to me.
Self-Reiki practice has helped me:
🌸 gain emotional and mental stability during life challenges
🌸 create a daily connection to myself and something greater than myself
🌸 ease physical aches and pains
🌸 return to sleep if I wake up in the middle of the night
🌸 make better lifestyle choices

International Joke Day was earlier this week.
I'm working with someone at the moment who shared that they lacked joy in their life. It was a bold admission considering that they hadn't lost a loved one, suffered a significant life change or experienced ill health. Their statement made me wonder how they could create more joy each day?
Here are five ways to create joy:
🌸Reframe your current situation. Reframing is a term that refers to changing the way you think about a situation.
🌸Practice being grateful for what you do have
🌸Create more time for rest and recuperation
🌸Get active. Make use of the local walking, running and cycling tracks
🌸Get involved with a group of people who inspire you
What small wonder can you see in this photo? Slowing down and pausing to notice the smaller aspects of life is a little like Reiki practice. Both encourage your nervous system to relax, bring you to the present moment, and create an opportunity for mental clarity.

Should I meditate during my Reiki treatment?
It's a common question. The answer is only if you want to. Reiki tends to put you into a meditative state so you don’t need to intentionally start meditating. Although Reiki has similar benefits to meditation, it’s a lot easier to practice and receive. Both meditation and Reiki:
🌸increase mental clarity
🌸promote relaxation
🌸connect you to yourself and something greater than yourself that you’re a part of

The most common response I hear when I ask people how they feel after Reiki treatment is "I feel better". I'm always delighted to hear this. It's simple and clear. Sometimes we discuss how you feel better, at other times nothing more needs to be said.
Last Saturday was World Wellness Day. WWD is a global incentive that started in Turkey in 2011. The day reminds you to ask yourself "How can you live a healthier and better life?" One way is to receive and practice Reiki.

Here in Melbourne, we're in our final week of autumn. Autumn is a reminder to let go of things that no longer serve you. Noticing the leaves change colour and watching them fall to the ground reminds us to release thoughts and habits that limit our capacity for optimum health and wellbeing.
If you want to feel better I invite you to ask yourself: "What is one action I can take today that will improve my health and well-being?" Change happens with one small action, that when implemented over some time, becomes a habit. So, gently identify an action or thought that isn't serving you and replace it with a nourishing one that does.

"My pain reduced during my treatment. Is this common?"
Yes, it's common. Physical pain, such as back, hip and shoulder pain can lessen during a Reiki treatment. There are two main reasons for this:
🌸Reiki relaxes your central nervous system. When you’re relaxed your experience of pain is reduced.
🌸Reiki creates an optimum environment for healing to take place.

I don't drink coffee but love the warming nature of tea, especially chai. The first time I had chai was in India. It was sweet, loaded with ginger and delicious. Chai is different in Melbourne but just as tasty. Chai tea tends to include cardamon, ginger and cinnamon, which have healing properties that help to:

Happy Mother's Day to all mothers past, present and future 💛
treatment is healing. It helps you to move through and heal your current experience.
Rather than berating yourself for experiencing something unpleasant, you recognise that it’s normal and acceptable to experience:
- grief after a loved one passes away
- anxiety if you’re having challenges conceiving
- sadness after a relationship ends
- resentment or anxiety if you are overstretched personally and/or professionally
- physical aches and pains
Reiki treatment creates an opportunity for you to accept your imbalance. Once you accept it, it lessens in intensity and you feel better.
