A process of becoming a mother- “Matrescence”
As you went through a process of becoming an adult as an adolescent, you will go through a process of becoming a mother as well. It has been known that the birth of a mother can be more intense than childbirth and that can be true for us who have been on this path.
The changes in the brain and body are massive during pregnancy. Also after baby arrives, your life will evolve.
It’s an incredible transformation that needs love, support, time and nurturing as you learn to accept a new version of you. This transformation can be very empowering and is on a much deeper level of evolution as we learn to become more of who we are at heart.
Post-partum is a continuum and a journey we continue to grow on. So embrace your feelings and experience🧡All are valid and all are part of an important process of life and love 🌿 Be kind to your unique and beautiful selves and embrace the magic of Matrescence ✨

How do you prepare mentally for childbirth?🤱🌼
Here are some suggestions from us.
* Practice relaxation techniques like breathing, meditation and stretching.
* Educate yourself by taking birth class, reading books, listening to podcasts etc.
* Eat balanced meals. Lots of vegetables, protein and healthy fats.
* Have a supportive environment with family, friends and healthcare professionals that you trust and feel safe.
* Make mantras or positive affirmations that you can keep in mind during birth. Like “My mind and body is relaxed” “Each surge of my body brings my baby closer to me”
* Connect with other mums who have experienced childbirth. This will help you with gaining valuable insight into what you’re about to experience.
* Have a plenty of rest. Getting enough sleep and rest is important for preparing your body and mind for childbirth 🌿
* Go for a walk with your partner or friend. Moving your body is amazing for supporting your nervous system and physical body.
* being informed and flexible. Remember that birth is unpredictable. So be open to accept and change plans.
Let us know what you do to prepare mentally for giving birth💛
Colostrum is the first breastmilk that your baby receives.
• it is high in protein and low in fat
• High in antioxidant, antibodies and nutrients
• it costs the gut lining of your baby, protecting it from potentially harmful substances and allergens✨
• Your body start to make Colostrum from about 16 week of pregnancy🌼🍼
• It is present for the first few days after birth and aids in emptying the bowel.
• Even though it is in the small volume, it is just right amount for a newborn.
Colostrum is the amazing source for protecting and nourishing the newborn🧡

As mothers-to-be we are bombarded by lists in pregnancy. Below are a few things we chat about in HypnoBirthing and a few keys areas regarding your baby and body that we think are important to understand. Check out our blog post via our bio for an extended list covering other topics too.
My Body
* I understand how the three layers of muscles in my uterus work and how to assist that process.
* I know the four main hormones of birth and how to optimize their production throughout labour.
* I have 100% confidence in my incredible body and its ability to birth naturally and I’m prepared for whatever turn my birthing takes.
* I have educated myself widely in techniques to assist my body through the labour process.
* I have practiced these techniques daily for as long as possible so they are second nature to me.
* I take care of myself physically and mentally.
My Baby
* I understand how common interventions may affect my baby both during labour and after birth.
* I have researched the importance of skin-to-skin contact immediately after birth for bonding and breastfeeding and will advocate for this regardless of the type of birth I have.
* My baby’s gut microbiome is of critical importance to me and I will do all I can to achieve a vaginal birth as long as it’s safe for my baby and me.

Savoury Phytoestrogen + calcium rich loaf 🍞🤍🥣
Try out this healthy, nutrient dense, calcium and phytoestrogen rich bread - it makes a great snack, breakfast or even lunch and is super easy to make !
Ingredients:
- 2.5 cups of soy, wheat, spelt or chickpea flour (I struggled to find soy so used chickpea and spelt wheat flour
- 1/4 cup freshly ground linseeds (see step 2 for grinding instructions)
- 1/2 cup mixed seeds (sunflower, sesame, pepitas)
- 3 teaspoons baking powder
- 250mL whole bean soy milk (ideally with no added sugar - I used Pure harvest organic soy milk from Woolworths)
- 250g silken organic tofu
- Zest of 1 lemon and the juice of 1/2 lemon
- 1/4 organic dried apricots
- Extra seeds to sprinkle on top
Method:
1. Preheat your oven to 180 degrees and grease and line a loaf tin with baking paper
2. Grind the flax/linseeds until they form a fine powder- use a coffee grinder or food processor. Its best to grind/blend as you need them. When we grind seeds the oils are released which can go rancid over time if they’re not used fresh.
3. Combine the flour, seeds, ground flax seeds, baking powder, lemon zest and lemon juice together
4. In a blender combine the silken tofu with the chopped dried apricots and blend until smooth.
5. Slowly add the soy milk to the tofu apricot mix and blend until combined.
6. Add the liquid mixture to your flour and seeds and mix well until combined
7. Press the mixture into the prepared loaf tin
8. Sprinkle extra seeds on top
9. Bake for 1 hour
10. Enjoy 🥰🍞🤍
Try spreading with coconut yogurt, almond or peanut butter and topped with raspberries!

Read the full review from one of our HypnoBirthers below ~
“Candace really equipped me and my husband for my first birth last year (2022). The hypnobirthing method that she teaches really works! I ended up having the birth that I planned- a natural birth, at home with no pain relief. My midwives actually kept thinking I was in early labour and didn’t turn up until after the birth of my daughter! I felt calm and grounded through the whole experience (so did my husband) and I think it comes down to the breathing exercises and the daily affirmations and relaxation that they give you. As well as ensuring you are well informed about all possible outcomes and possible medical interventions that might be needed and what your rights are and how to handle things once in the hospital space. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I have told everyone who’s pregnant about your course and how much it helped me ready myself for labour and birth.
If you are on the fence about doing this course, just do it. It is money well spent!”

The Purple Line / The Hobbs Line 💜
Did you know that during birth a purple line can begin to show along the natal cleft? This line is often used to help determine how far along a birther is in labour and how dilated they may be.
It’s seen in around 75-86% of people in active labour and may be purple, brown or red in colour. As the baby is closer to being birthed the line elongates. This line may be seen due to the pressure of baby’s head causing blood congestion. It often is first visible during the 3-4cm dilation stage.
Have you ever seen this line or did you experience this?

Here are few of the amazing reviews we’ve received from past HypnoBirthers ~
“My partner and I absolutely loved this course. The knowledge we gained made us both feel prepared for birth. Having the course spread over 5 weeks meant we had the time to absorb and discuss what we had learnt. I feel confident that my partner will be able to support me and that we can both make informed decisions before and during labor.”
“I am so happy my partner and I chose to do the 5 sessions with Candace instead of just over 2 weekends like most other courses. It really helped to absorb all of the information more and you get to know the other couples a little more which makes you feel that you are not alone in your worries.“
“It was lovely to go through the whole process with my partner from pre-labour, connecting to your baby, going through all the different options in hospital as well as learning about all the gorgeous benefits of HypnoBirthing.”

🌟 AFFIRMATIONS 🌟 Affirmations are a powerful tool to use in life but in particular when it comes to pregnancy, preparing for birth and the labour itself. They can keep you motivated, focused and give you an inner strength when you need it most 💪🏽 Most importantly, they can change your thoughts, habits and behaviours. The vast majority of the course content is based in science that is backed by evidence and studies. And the beauty of HypnoBirthing is that it also incorporates other elements such as visualisations and affirmations. When we practice affirmations we are creating a new way of thinking, and we practice repeating them until our brain believes these messages 🤍
