~ Beginning of Exceptional Journey with SMU MBA from 2017 ~
Happy New Year to all of dear alumni, the incoming class of 2017 students and prospective candidates!
Before getting further into the main topic, let us congratulate Class of 2016 students on their graduation! We are extremely proud to have all of you in SMU MBA community and do hope what you learned from the program will further accelerate your ambition for the way forward!
Some Class of 2016 students gave us updates and share what they are up to. They nurtured strong friendship from a variety of MBA projects. Daniel Putra, Naoyuki Gokaku, and Kazuki Tsukida have spent fabulous time in Tokyo’s Akihabara district.
Reflecting amazing time with classmates, Naoyuki mentions that “SMU MBA has brought a lot of positive impacts on me. Great friendship with classmates, deep Asian business exposure through innovative modules brought by professors that have both business and academic experiences and more.”
Kazuki shares his exposure into Asian business through his internship experiences in two companies. He did an internship with both Japanese and Singaporean companies. “I couldn’t imagine that I would take a bold approach before the beginning of SMU MBA. This program has given me the courage to take the further step to changing myself.”
If you are interested in knowing further details about their ongoing voyage, please let us know!

Today, our MBA students had an amazing lunch time with Mr. Augustine Tan, one of the best Economic professors in SMU!
After being inspired by one week intensive course "Current Issues in the Global Economy" by him, one of MBA students, Masafumi Saki ("Chaki") shared his excitement with us.
"Professor's economic course had an big impact on me. This one week was full of new findings and learnings. After joining SMU MBA program, I really feel that we have a priviledge to learn from those who have been active in the business and political world. There is no word "Stop" in our program.
Perfect combination of both academic and practical concepts from the classroom lecture/discussion was superbly helpful! What's more, professor shared some episodes when he served as Political Secretary to Prime Minister and President of Economic Society of Singapore. Everything was so so insightful! Never have I experienced such an exciting moment in the classroom."

"I joined the SMU MBA with a primary objective to broaden my business acumen. Coming from an entrepreneurial background, i was looking at honing my business understanding through practical applications of theoretical concepts. SMU MBA’s predominantly action based learning program has been a perfect medium for me to acquire, assimilate and apply my knowledge to explore solutions for relevant industry challenges by working on plethora of projects and case studies. A deeply satisfying aspect of learning has been the intellectually stimulating debate with batch mates to constantly explore diverse points of views – an experience that accelerated our cognitive growth.
I will remember my MBA journey by the wonderful memories of being part of fun and dynamic student community. The opportunities to be actively involved in student club activities or social projects or just hanging out for pure fun has helped form strong bonds and memories with some of the brightest and wonderful people that I know – one that I will cherish for a long time."
Anshuman Chaturvedi, Indian, MBA Class of 2015 (Full-time)
"For me, attractive opportunities always come from being in the SMU community! One of SMU’s strengths is the wide variety of communication/networking opportunities with students across all SMU’s postgraduate programmes. The accelerated MBA experience is not just about the flexible one-year course, but what I also like is having access to the wide variety of networking opportunities available to SMU students across all postgraduate programmes, such as the IE-SMU MBA, Master of Science in Management (MM) and the Master of Science in Innovation (MI). Being a member of the SMU MBA Marketing club also allowed me to have direct contact with guest speakers from related industries.
In my view, SMU stands out because it provides a single platform where every MBA student can learn, network, and be innovative together. The SMU MBA Mentorship Programme – a recent initiative started by the SMU MBA Alumni Office, also allowed me to form a deeper connection with our various SMU MBA alumni from different industries, as we get to be mentored under them. In addition, most modules are conducted in a way where every student can maximise their participation in class, making our learning exciting and fruitful."

"I was attracted by the 18-month duration of the part-time MBA programme at SMU. Although it was shorter, hence more intense than other part-time MBA programmes, I found the going well-paced and I could balance its demands with my job.
At SMU, I benefited from a relevant curriculum that was delivered by a faculty steeped in knowledge, practice and experience. I am also very impressed with my classmates who yield from diverse nationalities and industries. I have learned just as much from my classmates through our interaction, both inside and outside the classroom. The whole learning experience would have been different without them."

For the first time, the SMU Lee Kong Chian School of Business (LKCSB) has been ranked in the Financial Times (FT) Executive MBA Ranking. In its debut, the business school’s Executive MBA (EMBA) programme set up four years ago achieved a good standing of 10th position among Asian institutions, and 36th globally this year. It is also the highest-ranked new entrant in 2015.
The findings of the FT Executive MBA Ranking 2015 reveal that SMU’s EMBA graduates commanded the highest salary compared to those from other Singaporean institutions. They are also among the better paid in Asia and the world.
Being ranked highly for pre-EMBA work experiences (6th globally and 4th in Asia) and the international course experience (21st globally and 5th in Asia), the SMU EMBA provides outstanding exposure through its senior student profile and global exposure. It is also notable that LKCSB made the top 100 on the first year of qualifying for FT’s EMBA rankings.

"With the ever-changing economic landscape and greater global integration we are living in, it is necessary for me to gain a broader perspective of real-world business situations in order to remain competitive. SMU MBA’s holistic programme not only provided me the knowledge and skills necessary to be an all-rounder leader, it also trained me in the intensity and quality needed for me to be successful.
Working with diverse classmates wide-across many industries and nationalities truly exceeded my expectations as I acquired innumerable soft skills from every one of them. The camaraderie I developed through the programme still bind me strongly with my classmates as we continue to support one another in achieving more through our lives."
