MSE would like to alert the public to a scam involving the impersonation of investment platform GenZero.

Individuals would receive an email, or a phone text message, that encourages them to purchase carbon credits through a mobile application. They will also receive a separate email with links to a confirmation page, bearing the logos of the Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment (MSE), Ministry of National Development (MND) and the National Environment Agency (NEA). Upon registration on the mobile application, the individual will be asked to key in their personal banking details for payment.

This is a scam. MSE, MND and NEA are not affiliated with any such carbon credit purchasing or trading applications. GenZero has also confirmed that this is a scam. If you receive such invitation emails and would like to verify its authenticity, please call the MSE hotline at 1800-738-4622.

This week, MSE is marking Go Green SG with a specially curated week-long programme for our MSE family officers.

At a Sustainability Fair held at ENV Building yesterday, Singapore Agro-Food Enterprises Federation Limited - SAFEF, and local farms such as Chew's Egg, The Fish Farmer, Swee Chioh Fishery and Blucurrent by SAT brought their local produce right to our doorstep, and many of our colleagues took the chance to shop for local eggs, fish and vegetables. 🥚🐟🥬

Several of our partners also came down to share about and showcase their green initiatives, from Singapore Civil Defence Force's upcycled pouches made from uniforms and tarps, to displays showing sustainability initiatives from Xingnan Primary School and National University Health System - NUHS, to Plastify.sg and Semula Asia’s recycled plastic coasters, necklaces, carabiners and furniture, and more!

Our MSE family mascots Captain Green, Water Wally, Water Sally and Oscar also joined in on the fun to brighten our Monday morning!

This fair kicks off MSE Family’s Go Green SG week, which features several green activities like tours, learning journeys and a kayaking clean-up. Find out how other organisations are celebrating the Go Green SG month at www.gogreen.gov.sg!

🚨This is a PSA: Remember to return your trays after you finish your meal‼️ Don’t forget to clear litter such as used tissues and empty food packaging too.

Leftovers attract unwanted pests, making our hawker centres less hygienic. Let’s keep the dining experience pleasant for everyone, and keep our hawker centres clean!

Public dustbins have a limit! Stuffing rubbish into an over-full bin makes them dirtier, and more prone to attracting pests. See a full bin? Hold on to your trash just a little bit longer until you spot another emptier bin, and dispose your litter properly there instead. Let's all do our part, and keep our bins and environment pristine!

🌿✨ In support of Go Green SG, vintage store has come up with a public art installation called ‘Waste Gate’ created out of plastic and textile waste.

Touch and feel different types of textile waste, marvel at flowers made from plastic waste, and explore outdoor mirror installations — all upcycled to perfection!

If you look closely, you will even spot the banners from last year’s Go Green SG campaign! 🌟♻️

Over the past week, the MSE family has been leaning forward to support the oil spill clean-up efforts at affected areas.

Besides clearing out oil remnants and oil-soaked sand and rocks, operations by National Environment Agency (NEA), PUB, Singapore's National Water Agency, and Singapore Food Agency (SFA) are underway to ensure the safety of our air, water and food.

NEA has removed 550 tonnes of oil-soaked sand and debris at Sentosa, Tanah Merah, East Coast Park, and Labrador Nature Reserve, and will continue to do so until the affected areas are free of oil and other deposits. NEA officers are also monitoring air quality daily at the affected sites, and results remain well within safe levels.

PUB has also confirmed that Singapore’s drinking water supply has also not been affected by the oil spill, and there is no impact to our reservoirs and desalination plants.

SFA has also been taking precautionary measures to ensure that the oil spill does not affect our fish farms and that our local fish remains safe to consume. For example, SFA officers are taking fish samples twice daily from coastal fish farms in the East Johor Strait for food safety tests.

The MSE family is working hard collectively to deal with the oil spill. As the tides continue to bring in remnants of oil deposits, the MSE family will continue clean-up operations and monitor the safety of our air, water and food. We would like to extend our thanks to our service providers and community volunteers for their support during this period. We will continue to ensure that workers and volunteers alike are properly equipped and well-protected.

The Korban ritual - a religious sacrifice - is performed during Hari Raya Haji.

Amran, a Singapore Food Agency (SFA) inspection officer, was on Korban duty for the fourth year in a row. He ensures that hygiene standards are upheld throughout the Korban process, and that the animals are well taken care of before they are slaughtered and distributed to worshippers and those less fortunate.

Read on to learn more about what his job entails, and how he finds meaning in the work he does.

To all those who work over public holidays to ensure that Singaporeans’ needs are met - we appreciate you!

Little things can have a big impact! Our actions – or lack of them – add up, and if we're not careful, it could have a big effect on public hygiene. This is the core message behind our latest short film! Andy, a young boy, has the unique ability to shrink and visit his magical miniature world. However, when he ends up in a sticky situation due to others' carelessness, it's up to his friend Rishi to save him.

We may not realise it, but each of us have an impact on our shared environment and public spaces. Let’s all do our part for the Year of Public Hygiene, upkeep good public hygiene practices, and maintain a clean and green Singapore!
