Second Lieutenant (2LT) Chong Min Han is a platoon commander from Charlie Company, 5th Battalion, Singapore Infantry Regiment (5 SIR). As a platoon commander, 2LT Chong is responsible for the safety, training, morale and discipline of his platoon. He also ensures realistic and safe training, ensuring that his platoon remains operationally ready.
2LT Chong with his platoon recently participated in Exercise Safkar (XSI) Indopura 2024. He shared that it was a great experience working closely with soldiers from the Indonesian Army (TNI-AD), where there was numerous sharing on Tactics, Techniques and Procedures (TTPs), collectively planning for a mission, and working together to achieve mission success during a field training exercise!

Yesterday, our Army signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Temasek Polytechnic, marking a key step forward in strengthening the functional expertise of our Army Personnel in the Security domain.
Selected Army personnel, including NSFs can now join WSQ-Security courses. Regulars are also given the opportunity to pursue Diploma programs from Temasek Polytechnic - Security Industry Institute (SII). Participants will be able to gain insights into updated industry trends and practices, and also earn certifications accredited by SkillsFuture Singapore, Workforce Singapore, and the Ministry of Home Affairs. Exemptions for selected programmes such as Diploma in Security and Policing and Specialist Diploma in Security Consultancy may also be granted based on the individualโs job experience and qualifications.
Our Army remains committed to invest in our people, equipping them with the necessary skills and knowledge needed to excel within and beyond the Army.

Yesterday, Brigadier-General (BG) Low Wilson handed over the appointment of Chief Guards Officer/ Commander 21st Singapore Division to Colonel (COL) Wong Pui Chuan at a Change of Command Parade in Bedok Camp. The Witnessing Officer was Chief of Army (COA), Major-General (MG) David Neo.
We congratulate COL Wong on his new appointment and wish BG Low the best in his next appointment.

Yesterday, Commander Combat Service Support Command (CSSCOM), Military Expert 7 (ME7) Tan Mu Yen, and Chief Transport Officer (CTO) Colonel (COL) Loi Heng Yang, hosted Minister of State (MOS) for Law and Transport, Mr Murali Pillai, and members of the Bus Safety Tripartite Taskforce to a visit at Transport Formation, to better understand the SAFโs Transport Safety System.
The Bus Safety Tripartite Taskforce includes representatives from the Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Manpower, Land Transport Authority, Singapore Road Safety Council, Traffic Police, National Transport Workers Union, and four public transport operators - SMRT, Go Ahead Singapore, SBS Transit, and Tower Transit Singapore.
As part of his visit, Mr Murali was briefed on how the SAF leverages data and technology to enhance training efficiency and improve overall transport safety.

The Singapore Armed Forces will deploy an A330 Multi-Role Tanker Transport and two C-130 transport aircraft to deliver humanitarian aid supplies to communities affected by Typhoon Yagi in Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam.
Director, Changi Regional Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief Coordination Centre (RHCC), Colonel (COL) Fredie Tan said, โChangi RHCC and the Singapore Armed Forces stand ready and committed to support regional humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HADR) efforts, and bring much-needed relief to the affected communities of our neighbouring countries. We will continue to work closely with our Civil-Military partners such as local and regional NGOs, as well as the ASEAN Coordinating Centre for Humanitarian Assistance on Disaster Management (AHA Centre).โ
Meet Staff Sergeant (SSG) Yeo Cheng Ru, an Operations Specialist in our Army's Headquarters 2nd Singapore Infantry Brigade (2 SIB).
In August, he became the first from our Army to graduate from the Jungle Operations Training Course (JOTC), conducted by the Lightning Academy 25th Infantry Division, in the United States.
Held between 29 July and 9 August, JOTC is a 12-day course that sharpens its studentsโ abilities to operate in a jungle environment. This includes rigorous tests such as the Combat Water Survival assessment, a land navigation assessment and a timed 5km jungle run.
SSG Yeo will be the first soldier in our Army to wear the Jungle Tab on his uniform. We congratulate SSG Yeo on his success and for flying our flag high!

Earlier this month, our soldiers from Signal Institute (SI) visited seniors residing in Redhill, providing cleaning and painting services to spruce up their homes, and at the same time, engaged in meaningful conversations with our seniors.
This event was organised by our NSFs from SI, in collaboration with Central Singapore Community Development Council - CDC under the Silver Homes programme, and NTUC Health Active Ageing Centre (Redhill), and allowed our soldiers to make a positive impact on the lives of our seniors!

This morning, His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, The Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office of Brunei Darussalam visited the Centre of Excellence for Soldier Performance (CESP), as part of his official visit to Singapore.
During his visit to CESP, His Royal Highness was hosted by our Senior Minister of State for Defence Mr Heng Chee How. Our Chief of Defence Force (CDF), Vice Admiral (VADM) Aaron Beng, and Chief of Staff - General Staff Brigadier-General (BG) Tan Cheng Kwee were also present at the visit.
His Royal Highness was given a brief on how CESP leverages science and technology to enhance soldiers' fitness and nutrition, reduce and prevent injuries, strengthen their resilience, and improve soldier systems and equipment within the SAF.

The 36th edition of Exercise Safkar Indopura (XSI), the annual flagship exercise between the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) and the Indonesian Army (TNI-AD), was successfully held in Salatiga, Central Java, Indonesia from the 2nd to 11th September 2024.
This yearโs edition featured over 200 personnel from the SAFโs Headquarters 3rd Singapore Infantry Brigade (HQ 3 SIB) and 5th Battalion, Singapore Infantry Regiment (5 SIR), and the TNI-ADโs 2nd Infantry Division (DIVIF 2), 6th Mechanised Infantry Raider Brigade (BRIGIF Mekanis Raider 6), and 411th Mechanised Infantry Raider Battalion (YONIF Mekanis Raider 411) from the Army Strategic Reserve Command (KOSTRAD).
Eleven medical personnel from Headquarters Army Medical Services (HQ AMS) and Headquarters Military Medicine Institute (HQ MMI) also partnered with the TNI-AD to provide basic medical and dental services as part of the Community Assistance Programme.
XSI underscores the close and long-standing defence relations between Singapore and Indonesia, and provided an excellent opportunity to enhance mutual understanding and strengthen relationships between both Armies.

Earlier this month, on behalf of the Combat Service Support Command (CSSCOM) family, Commander CSSCOM, Military Expert 7 (ME7), Tan Mu Yen received the Distinguished Friend of Singapore Red Cross Award, from President Tharman Shanmugaratnam at the Singapore Red Cross Awards 2024.
This award recognises CSSCOM's enduring and invaluable contributions to the National Blood Programme - both raising awareness on the importance of blood donation in ensuring a steady and adequate blood supply, and also increasing the availability of life-saving blood to patients in need.

On 9 Sep 2024, Brigadier-General (BG) Wong Shi Ming handed over the appointment of Commander 9th Singapore Division/ Chief Infantry Officer to Colonel (COL) Fairoz bin Hassan at a Change of Command Parade in Selarang Camp. The Witnessing Officer for the Parade was Chief of Army (COA), Major-General (MG) David Neo.

Last week, our Army Medical Services (AMS) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Radiological Sciences SingHealth. This partnership is a significant step towards advancing mobile computed tomography (CT) as a national capability.
The MOU outlined key areas of collaboration, including the joint use of a mobile CT scanner and enhancing radiological diagnostics capabilities both in operational settings and in hospitals. Our NSmen will also be able to gain hands-on experience with the mobile CT scanner when it is deployed in the hospital.
This collaboration creates new opportunities for our medical personnel to hone their specialised skills in radiology, thereby strengthening our Armyโs operational capabilities.

First Sergeant (1SG) Muhammad Hidhir Bin Yunos is an Army Deployment Force (ADF) Operator. ADF is a high-readiness unit that will respond swiftly and decisively to deal with any security incident that warrants a response from the SAF. ADF also supports regional Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) missions and Peace Support Operations. 1SG Hidhir recently participated in Exercise Super Garuda Shield 2024 (XSGS 24) โ a multilateral exercise involving armed forces from 11 other nations, which was held in Indonesia.

Yesterday, 141 of our Officer Cadets celebrated the completion of their 38 weeks of rigorous training to be commissioned as Officers of the SAF, at the 134/23 Officer Cadet Commissioning Parade (OCCP). The parade was held at the SAFTI Military Institute (SAFTI MI).
We wish our newly minted Officers the best as they embark on their next chapter as leaders of our Army! To Lead, to Excel, and to Overcome!

Taking flight! Our Army is introducing a new tactical surveillance drone (Vesper) to enhance our soldiersโ situational awareness on the battlefield.
The Vesper by Vantage Robotics, which was evaluated and procured in partnership with DSTA Defence Science and Technology Agency, is a highly-portable quadcopter drone, which transmits high quality video feed to the Ground Control Station (GCS).

Last week, two teams from our HQ Combat Service Support Command (CSSCOM) participated in the Public Service Science, Technology, Engineering Innovation Challenge (STEIC), as part of the Science, Technology and Engineering Conference (STEC) 2024, and emerged among the top eight of 60 teams.
They were selected to present how they leveraged robotics and Machine Learning to develop an automated packing system for the National Day Parade this year, and to enhance inspection of batteries for Electric Vehicles respectively.
Organised by the Public Sector Science and Technology Policy and Plans Office (S&TPPO), STEC serves as a platform to encourage sustainable solutions in science and technology to transform everyday living.
In the spirit of the event, an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-driven Facial Recognition Attendance System, developed by our soldiers from 11th Command, Control, Communications, Computers, and Intelligence Battalion (11C4I Bn), was also deployed to administer the smooth registration for more than 700 guests!

Recently, as part of our Army Adventure Training Scheme, a team of 8 service women from the Singapore Combat Engineers (SCE) and the Army Medical Service (AMS) embarked on a 58KM trekking expedition to the region of Ala Kul Lake, Kyrgyzstan, where the team faced challenging and diverse terrain.
The scheme was introduced to promote personal growth and team development by exposing service personnel to outdoor pursuits that are tough, exciting, and demanding.

Earlier today, our Prime Minister (PM) and Minister for Finance, Mr Lawrence Wong visited Basic Military Training Centre (BMTC) at Pulau Tekong. As part of his visit, PM Wong joined our recruits in a run, participated in a Strength and Conditioning Training and a Singapore Assault Rifle 21st Century (SAR 21) Technical Handling Training session.
This was PM Wong's first official visit to the SAF in his capacity as Singapore's Prime Minister. PM Wong was accompanied by Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen, Senior Minister of State (SMS) for Defence Mr Zaqy Mohamad, Chief of Army (COA) Major-General (MG) David Neo, Sergeant Major of the Army (SMA), Chief Warrant Officer (CWO) Sanjee Singh, and senior officers from our Army.

Earlier today, our Chief of Army (COA) Major-General (MG) David Neo and the Chief of Army of the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF), General (GEN) Tan Sri Datoโ Wira Muhammad Hafizuddeain bin Jantan co-officiated the closing ceremony of the 28th edition of Exercise Semangat Bersatu (XSB). XSB 24 was held in Kluang, Johor, Malaysia from 18 to 26 August 2024, and involved over 800 personnel from the 5th Battalion, Singapore Infantry Regiment (SIR), and the 5th Battalion, Royal Malay Regiment.
As part of the exercise, soldiers from both Armed Forces cross-shared on the different weapon systems and the latest infantry fighting techniques, culminating in a combined battalion exercise. This yearโs edition also coincided with the 14th edition of the SAF-MAF Joint Adventure Training (JAT) hosted by the 6th Battalion, Royal Ranger Regiment.

Captain (CPT) Siew Shui Long recently graduated from the Armour Basic Officer Leaders Course (ABOLC), conducted by the US Army Maneuver Centre of Excellence (MCoE).
For his exceptional performance, he received the Honour Graduate award, the Top International Student award, and the US Army Achievement Medal.
Our Army congratulates CPT Siew on his success and for flying our Singapore flag high.
