This year's Campbell Lecture will be on Friday October 27th from 1-2 pm in HFC 115 by Eve L. Ewing, Ed.D., entitled Original Sins: The [Mis]Education of Black and Native Youth and the Construction of American Racism.

Dr. Ewing is an Associate Professor of Race, Diaspora, and Indigeneity at the University of Chicago. A former public-school teacher, she is particularly interested in the role of schools as social institutions and in the ways that schools can construct, normalize, and reinforce forms of social inequality. Furthermore, Eve is interested in the ways that educational inequities reflect social cruelties beyond the walls of the school building, as well as, conversely, the still-lingering possibility that educational spaces can be sites of joy and liberation.

Following Dr. Ewing’s presentation there will be a short reception in the HFC lobby.
