The YC had a blast tonight at the D11 town-hall‼️
Tonight we discussed burning youth issues with Councilwoman Schultz and Interim City Manager Tolbert. Thank you to everyone who attended and asked questions!
RECAP📣: The YC had a blast at the back to school bash at Hiawatha Williams Recreation Center where commissioner Nelson(D3) Martinez(D5) Jeffus(11) handed out information about the youth commission and our initiatives.
RECAP📣 Over the weekend the YDC was able to attend the summit and have open discussions about voting and being civically engaged within Dallas.
Recap📣 Yesterday the YC was able to go to the Mayors Back To school event and meet many teens and families getting ready to go back to school from all over Dallas.
Commissioner Okon and Commissioner Tenner attended the Big Thought Turn Up @ Shops at Redbird Mall. They were promoting the Youth Commission and answering any inquiries that arose. This event aimed to provide students with resources and the opportunities for success.

Commissioner Jeffus and Commissioner Tamfu attended the Youth Symposium to promote the Community Closet and how the initiative helps combat period poverty in Dallas. The Healthy Futures Youth Symposium is an event dedicated to providing insight on safe sexual practices and awareness on topics like teen trafficing, sexual assault, and drug use.
Celebrate our planet this Earth Month by joining us April 28th from 1-4pm at Klyde Warren East Section for the Dallas Earth Fest. Event admission is free and open to the public. This event will include Earth-themed activities/workshops and educational booths from organizations and clubs around the Dallas metroplex.
