Big things coming to west Fort Worth! “Today’s approval of the interlocal agreement for UTA West marks a significant milestone for Fort Worth. UTA West will not only enhance educational opportunities, but also drive economic growth, create jobs, and solidify Fort Worth’s position as a leader in higher education and workforce development,” said Councilmember Michael D. Crain, District 3. “I look forward to the benefits this partnership between the City of Fort Worth and UTA will bring to residents in west Fort Worth for years to come.” The University of Texas at Arlington Michael D. Mega pet adoption event!
In 2014, after Joanna and I spent 14 years living in Washington and Beijing, we experienced what I can only describe as a reality check—having kids will do that to you! With the arrival of M&M, our conversations began to center around our desire for them to be raised "just as we were".
So, 10 years ago today, we made the decision to move back to Fort Worth. It’s hard to believe that amount of time has passed so quickly and, yet, so slowly. Our family has grown—adding 1 more child and two new dogs—and I've accumulated a few extra pounds, wrinkles and scars along the way.
We've experienced incredible highs and some very low lows. We've achieved more than we ever dreamed possible, but we've also faced failures we couldn't have anticipated. While I cherish our time abroad and all the friends we made and experiences we had, I know I wouldn't want to do it any other way in any other city with any other group of people than these pictured. Thank you, City of Fort Worth, for allowing us to soar. Here's to the the next 10 years!
The community is invited to join a candlelight vigil tonight at 7:30pm Fort Worth South Patrol (3501 W. Risinger) to honor one of Fort Worth Police Department's fallen heroes, Sgt Billy Randolph. Info below is regarding his celebration of life on Saturday.
Thoughts and prayers for the Randolph family and our entire Fort Worth Police Department family with the loss of a good one today. Sergeant Randolph was doing what our officers do...helping others to safety...when he was struck and killed. More details forthcoming, but drive safe and hug the ones you love. And, when you see a police officer, stop and thank them for all they do. Michael D. Crain Fort Worth Police Officers Association

Latergram: AMAZING time representing Fort Worth alongside my colleague Councilwoman Jeanette Martinez in Budapest with Fort Worth Sister Cities International a couple of weeks ago. The relationship was formalized at the end of the Cold War (1990) under then Mayor Bob Bolen. I first visited Budapest in 1994 and, boy, has it changed. There was no shopping and barely any typical tourism. From the pics, you can see that is now not the case. Thanks, Budapest Chair JD Dargai, for sharing your beautiful country with our group of Fort Worth Ambassadors. I can’t wait to get back there. If you’d like to learn more about our Sister City Budapest, check it out here: https://www.fwsistercities.org/city/budapest-hungary/ Michael D. Crain
“Fear and faith have one thing in common—they both believe in a future that hasn’t happened yet. Fear believes in a negative future. Faith believes in a positive future. If neither has happened yet, why wouldn’t we choose to believe in a positive future? Why wouldn’t we choose to believe our best days are ahead of us instead of behind us?” -Jon Gordon
WARNING! Fort Worth just got 2 BRAND NEW DRIVERS! While I’m sad they are one step closer to adulthood (and don’t get me started on the cost of insurance), I’m happy for their happiness.

Had an incredible time supporting the Fort Worth Police Department and their amazing Fort Worth Patrol K9 Support unit! It was thrilling to don the gear and experience firsthand the dedication and expertise our officers and their canine partners bring to their roles.
The training these officers and dogs undergo is truly impressive, ensuring they can effectively serve and protect our community. Proud to be part of K9 Day and honor these heroic dogs. Michael D. Crain

As the Fort Worth City Council member representing District 3, I'm proud to share my recent commentary from Fort Worth Magazine on the critical need for improved crisis preparedness in our city. Fort Worth has been fortunate to avoid major catastrophes, but we must not become complacent. I believe it's essential that we prioritize emergency readiness at all levels of city government to ensure the safety and resilience of our community.
In my article, I discuss the importance of:
• Proactive planning for potential crises
• Investing in infrastructure and resources for emergency response
• Fostering collaboration between city departments and external partners
• Engaging our community in preparedness efforts
As your representative, I'm committed to working with my fellow council members and city leadership to strengthen Fort Worth's ability to face any challenge that may come our way. Together, we can build a more resilient and prepared city for all our residents.

Commentary: Fort Worth Must Prioritize Crisis Preparedness at All Levels While we've been blessed to avoid major catastrophes in recent years, we can't become complacent. It's simply a matter of time before some crisis — whether natural or man-made — tests the mettle of our resilient city.

What an incredible Independence Day celebration in Fort Worth!
Started the morning with our family tradition and the spirited Overton Park NA/ Tanglewood Neighborhood parade (thanks to the Westcliff Neighbors who joined as well), then joined the festive Ridglea North Neighborhood Association event. Cooled off swimming with friends at Mira Vista Country Club, and capped off the night with the spectacular fireworks show on Panther Island organized by Streams & Valleys.
So proud of our community coming together to honor America. Thank you to all who made these events possible!

Happy 4th of July!
🇺🇸 Happy 248th birthday, America! As we celebrate, let's prioritize safety:
- Plan before heading out; never drink and drive.
- Avoid parking on the sides of roads to watch fireworks.
- Stay hydrated—drink plenty of water.
- Do not call 911 to report fireworks: Use the MyFW App or call 817-392-4444.
4th of July festivities kicked off properly by Ridglea Hills! Always a fun parade and fireworks show on Luther Lake. Congrats and many thanks to all those who helped make it possible. Strong neighborhoods make a stronger Fort Worth. Ridglea Hills Neighborhood Association Michael D. Crain
It's that time of year again! I'm all about fun, but let's keep Fort Worth safe for 4th of July celebrations! Leave the fireworks to the pros and help the Fort Worth Police Department STOP the illegal use of fireworks. Michael D. Crain
