The Work Readiness Training (WRT) is implemented to educate participants on job search and job retention skills. Each participant takes part in numerous interactive activities that are included in the following topics: Workforce Preparation Skills, Interpersonal Skills, Customer Service Skills and Decision-Making Skills. Throughout the year, HYS continuously seeks partnerships with employers and non-profit organizations that are able to offer job training to HYS participants. The Youth Development program offers five individual components such as Leadership Development to promote positive inter-group relations and skill building in bias awareness, critical thinking, problem solving and team building. Cultural Enrichment examines race, ethnicity, and stereotypes to allow participants the opportunity to appreciate the diverse cultures that they live amongst. Life Skills training promotes healthy alternatives to risky behavior and goal achievement through activities that involve general social skills, drug resistance, and personal self management skills. Lastly, Computer Skills training applies typing exercises, group and individual projects using computer technology to achieve essential skills needed for the future.
