MSUM's Roland Dille Center for the Arts Gallery
The MSUM gallery is dedicated to exhibiting art created by regional and national artists, as well as Note: No food or drink is allowed in the gallery.
The gallery is equipped to accommodate a wide variety of media in a humidity-controlled environment. The 12' ceilings facilitates the installation of large-scale sculptural hooks and cables. There are moveable flats of varing size, and a selection of padestals that enable the gallery to be configured in a variety of floor plans. Visiting artist, Tom Weis, will be at MSUM next week.
Weis is an Associate Professor at RISD, co-founder of Altimeter Design Group, and an MSUM alum.
Mark your calendars for his lecture ‘Sorting through Systems’ on Tuesday, February 6th at 6:30 in King Hall 110.
Students can sign up for a 30 minute individual studio visit with him on Wednesday, February 7th (several spots open)!

This exhibition features artwork by participants of the 2023 Northern Plains Summer Art Institute
(NPSAI). It travels to MSUM from the Plains Art
Museum. The NPSAI is a two-week intensive art program for Native American high school and college students, who spent two weeks learning from active Native American professionals in multiple disciplines of the art world.
John Allen, John Armstrong Bennie O. Anderson ,and Alexander Ames are some of the brave veterans on display at the gallery! Come check it out and learn all about these soldiers and their lives!

Exhibits examine historical representation of marginalized people “True Sons of Freedom” and “Project E-Quality” are on display through Nov. 9 at MSUM and a talk featuring Denise Lajimodiere, author of “Stringing Rosaries,” will be held Nov. 14 at HCSCC to usher in the opening of “Away From Home: American Indian Boarding School Stories.”

True Sons of Freedom explores the worlds of twenty Virginians who fought overseas to defend freedoms they were denied at home. In the words of one Black American veteran from Richmond, ‘It was my duty to defend the standards of my country where my Freedom is sought’.
The reception for this moving and thought-provoking exhibition of photographs, visiting from the Library of Virginia (), is this Thursday, September 21st, 4:30-7:00pm. The exhibit is open until November 8th.

Professor Sherry Lee Short’s exhibition ‘Decades’, a retrospective selection of art spanning 30 years of work, went up this week in the Roland Dille Center for the Arts Annex Gallery. It opens Monday!
The show encompasses several bodies of work, including figure studies, narrative self-portraits, feminist works addressing sexual violence, and landscapes. These bodies of work reflect Short’s ongoing commitment to, publishing about, and activism around feminist and environmental issues as well as her broader interests in understanding and studying the natural world.
Join us for the reception Thursday, August 31st from 4:30-7:00pm!
All works are for sale. A portion of the sales will be donated to the School of Art Printmaking Residency.
