Sophia Smith is the 2024-2025 Minnesota Collegiate DECA president – making her the third consecutive Dragon to to hold the prestigious title!

Sophia is a junior majoring in finance and has been involved in DECA since high school. She mainly competes outside of finance to grow her skills in ways that will help her prosper in her major.

"Everyone needs networking and resume experience. DECA gives you a head start," Sophia says.

Ellie Fischer and Kristin Meyer represented the Paseka School of Business in Washington D.C., at the Beta Gamma Sigma Global Leadership Summit. Opportunities like this give students once-in-a-lifetime experiences that equip them for careers beyond college.

In 2023, MSUM was recognized as one of the best universities in the region by US News and World Report.

The report ranked universities based on several factors, including student outcomes, graduation rates and post-graduate success among others.

In a ranking of more than 160 public regional universities spanning North and South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana and Ohio, MSUM was named the 13th best - top 8%.

MSUM also ranked in the top third among all midwest regional universities, public or private. Both rankings are significant improvements over MSUM's 2022 placements.
