I have told her privately so will state publicly: I am proud to endorse Mayor Mattie Parker for re-election. Her steady leadership has fostered a thriving Fort Worth, prioritizing public safety, economic development and community engagement. With a commitment to lowering property taxes and enhancing educational opportunities, she has proven to be a dedicated advocate for all residents and I have enjoyed my time working alongside her. Let’s support Mayor Parker in continuing to build a safer, stronger and more united city for everyone.

Had an inspiring three-day visit last week to the Fort Worth fire stations serving District 3—Stations 16, 23, 30, 39 and 43.
I am deeply dedicated to ensuring that the brave men and women of the Fort Worth Fire Department have the best facilities and top-notch equipment to do their vital work. Their commitment to keeping our community safe is truly commendable, and it’s a privilege to support them in any way I can.
Thank you to all the firefighters for your hard work and dedication! Together, we will continue to enhance our fire services and ensure our heroes are equipped to face any challenge. Fort Worth Professional Firefighters Local 440

Join Mayor Mattie Parker, Councilmember Jared Williams, Ph.D. and me along with our amazing Fort Worth Fire Department Chief Jim Davis to break ground on the new Fire Station 16! THIS Wednesday, October 16th at 5:00pm sharp. Michael D. Crain
The City of Fort Worth and the Fort Worth Fire Department are excited to announce that official groundbreaking for the new Fire Station 16 will be held on Wednesday, October 16th at 5pm. The groundbreaking is open to the public.
The current Station 16 is located at 5933 Geddes Street and was built in 1965. Approved within the 2022 Bond Program, the City of Fort Worth purchased a one-acre site at the northeast corner of Lovell Avenue and Horne Street for $2.27 million. The new Station 16 will be built on that site by Batson-Cook Construction and the original station will be demolished when construction is complete.
Station 16 serves the Como, Lake Como and Ridglea neighborhoods. The station averages over 5,000 runs a year (engine 4,000 runs a year/quint averages about 1,200).
The current facility is 60 years old and is in dire need of updates and improvements. The new station will be constructed with vital upgrades to technology, housing, facilities and the safety of the firefighters stationed there during their shift. It will be a 3-bay, 2-story double company facility and will eventually be the headquarters for Battalion 5.
Fort Worth Mayor Mattie Parker, Councilmember Michael D. Crain, Councilmember Jared Williams, Ph.D., City Manager David Cooke, Assistant City Manager Dana Burghdoff and Fire Chief Jim Davis will be on site to mark the occasion and share a few words with the attendees and media. Lifelong Como Community member and leader, Estrus Tucker, will emcee the event.
Stay safe, .

That's a wrap on the 2024 National Night Out! 3 hours, 7 stops and 37.4 miles driven. Had an absolute blast visiting with some outstanding D3 neighbors in LVTRise, Ventana, Ridgmar, Ridglea Hills, Ridglea, Hampton Place and Meadows West. Burgers, hot dogs, sno cones and home made chili consumed! Thanks to my M coming along for the ride and seeing some of the great people her Poppa gets to represent (and the reason why I sacrifice time with them). Thanks to the men and women of the Fort Worth Police Department and Fort Worth Fire Department who were out and about at every stop. We live in a beautiful, prosperous city. Happy National Daughters Day to M&M and ABC. Oh they have their moments, but they make life complete and give it purpose. Joanna Crain
As we continue to declutter, I find things. Like this one. I’ve very often found myself in rooms I could have never imagined. I take chances. I live life. I push forward in the face of adversity. Sometimes I do it with grace. Sometimes I break a few dishes in the process. Never are my actions intended to be mean-spirited or vindictive or privileged (though I’ve been told that’s how they sometimes get interpreted). My actions come from a place of desiring to get things done, to help, to make a positive change – and understanding I have a short window to walk on this Earth. No doubt I’ve made mistakes along the way, but I can get to a place of peace with my actions. Why? Because of what is noted on this piece of paper. I’m saved.
I’m human, broken, imperfect. We all are. When I’m asked, “How are you?” my reply is sometimes a smile and “I’m alive.” Why that reply? Well, life moves quickly. Standing in the arena, much gets thrown at you. But whatever happens, I’m at peace because I know one day I am going Home. And maybe I get to see my grandparents again and meet all those relatives I’ve only seen in pictures and hold the babies we lost along the way and know all the hard problems are solved and all the world is at peace too.

Mega pet adoption event!
In 2014, after Joanna and I spent 14 years living in Washington and Beijing, we experienced what I can only describe as a reality check—having kids will do that to you! With the arrival of M&M, our conversations began to center around our desire for them to be raised "just as we were".
So, 10 years ago today, we made the decision to move back to Fort Worth. It’s hard to believe that amount of time has passed so quickly and, yet, so slowly. Our family has grown—adding 1 more child and two new dogs—and I've accumulated a few extra pounds, wrinkles and scars along the way.
We've experienced incredible highs and some very low lows. We've achieved more than we ever dreamed possible, but we've also faced failures we couldn't have anticipated. While I cherish our time abroad and all the friends we made and experiences we had, I know I wouldn't want to do it any other way in any other city with any other group of people than these pictured. Thank you, City of Fort Worth, for allowing us to soar. Here's to the the next 10 years!
The community is invited to join a candlelight vigil tonight at 7:30pm Fort Worth South Patrol (3501 W. Risinger) to honor one of Fort Worth Police Department's fallen heroes, Sgt Billy Randolph. Info below is regarding his celebration of life on Saturday.
