Starting from now, we will move from monthly themes to season themes, giving us more time to dive into each focus. This change allows for a more structured journey where our weekly classes build on one another, helping you to see and feel steady progress as well as embrace the seasononl changes of life with more ease 🌳

As the leaves continue to fall, autumn is a time of grounding, reflection and letting go 🍂 Our yoga practice this season will continue to focus on building strength in the body to help find more balance on and off the mat ⚖️

We will incorporate movement and pranayama (breathwork) practices to nourish the lung and large intestine meridians, the energy channels associated with autumn 🍁

This will be practiced through twists, side bends and balancing pranayama to help stimulate these energy channels, encouraging the release of anything that no longer serves you - mirroring nature's own process of of shedding and renewal ✨

Hello new faces, let me reintroduce myself 🫶

My name is Megan, I am a nurse, yoga teacher and dog mum to the most bonkers spaniel/collie called Maisey 🐶

It is my goal to help others find more balance in their lives through the practices of yoga 🌱

After experiencing mental and physical burnout as a newly qualified nurse, I learned firsthand how important it is to take care of yourself first. That difficult period taught me the importance of self-care and finding balance in life.

Now, I am passionate about sharing the supportive practices of yoga with others, especially to those who may be feeling overwhelmed, burnt out or in need of more balance in their lives. Through my own healing journey, I found yoga to be the most supportive practice in nurturing my mind, body and soul.

So, whether you’re looking to start your yoga journey, overcome challenges on and off the mat or connect with a community of like-minded others, I would love to help you feel more balanced and empowered in your life everyday!

Starting from November 1st you can join me again for in-person classes at a new location! The is a new studio space nestled in Trinity near Victoria Park and Wardie Bay, for those who enjoy a cold water dip ❄️

Join me every Friday morning, where I will guide you through movement, breath work and mindfulness practices to help you reconnect with yourself and bring a sense of calm and balance to your everyday life.

This yoga practice is created to link breath with movement, creating a flow that can help support flexibility, strength and overall mood.

This class is open to all levels, including beginners. I create every class with lots of options to accommodate both those who are new to yoga and those who have an experienced practice.

Spaces are limited as this class is shared with my lovely NHS collegues who work along side me in my other job as a nurse 🩺

Inside the Beginner Series: Day 1 🌱

In Day 1, we’re starting with Easy Pose or Sukhasana. Easy pose is sometimes referred to as a "comfortable seated position" & is often used at the start of yoga classes for centering & grounding as well as during meditation practices.

I should start by saying try not to be fooled by the name, “easy” doesn’t necessary mean this pose is easy. Sitting cross-legged on the floor may feel natural for kids, but as adults, many of us just aren't used to it anymore. Our bodies might feel tight, stiff and/or uncomfortable in this position & that’s completely okay!

So let's break this pose down and explore how to make it more comfortable for you & your body 👇

Breakdown:
1. Find your seat: Sit on the floor with your legs crossed. You can sit on a folded blanket or cushion to elevate your hips and make the pose more comfortable.
2. Align your spine: Sit up tall with your spine straight, shoulders relaxed and chest open. Rest your hands on your knees or in your lap.
3. Breathe: Take deep, steady breaths, focusing on grounding yourself and feeling the connection between your body and the earth.

Variations & Beginner Tips:
🌱 If your hips feel tight, sit on a folded blanket or cushion to elevate your hips above your knees.
🌱 Use a wall for back support
🌱Switch the cross of your legs halfway through to balance the stretch.
🌱If the deep flextion of the knee is being your discomfort, try extending the legs out in front of you or you could find a gentle bend of the knees with the soles of feet guiding towards each other or crossing the ankles.

Exciting News 🌟

I am so excited to share one of my latest projects I’ve been working on that is very close to my heart. Many of you know that, as well as a yoga teacher, I am also an intensive care nurse for the NHS. I qualified as a nurse during the pandemic & began to experience burnout within a couple years

I had spent months crying at every minor inconvenience, spending days off feeling exhausted, had no desire to do the things I used to enjoy & no longer felt like myself. I reached a point where I was ready to quit nursing but had no idea what my next steps could be. This is when I sought help & began working with the amazing life and career coach

Through her guidance, I rediscovered the importance of self-care & prioritising my well-being. This journey transformed my approach to life, nursing & yoga. Inspired by everything I learned, I created Megan Jane Wellness to support fellow healthcare workers. Initially, I faced challenges introducing yoga classes in the hospital & decided to put that dream on the back burner.

In the meantime, I focused on growing a community of like-minded others looking for ways to find calm amoungst the busyness of life whether you are a healthcare worker or not, we all need time to decompress & reconnect with ourselves. My goal has always been to create a safe space where you can find balance & harmony in mind and body.

It's safe to say I have achieved this will all the kind testimonials, I have received. I would like to thank you all for you support, I wouldn't have gotten this far without you.

Today, I'm excited to announce my biggest accomplishment in my business to date. Starting this July, I will be funded by the NHS to teach yoga classes for my colleagues in intensive care and create an online resource for patients and their families. I look forward to sharing the nourishing practices of yoga with even more people, helping them find moments of peace amidst life's challenges.

As I begin this new chapter, please note that the Slow Flow class will be replaced by a new Friday Flow class from 09:00-10:00 to allow for the NHS class. The online schedule will remain as usual.

Are you new to yoga? Read this ↘️

Trying something new can be intimidating and even a bit scary, which are completely normal feelings to have by the way!

The first class ever attended was taught by my auntie but I still do remember feeling quite unsure about making certain shapes, the names of the poses, being in a room full of people I didn't know and wondering if I was doing any of it "right." However, after almost an hour of breathing and moving mindfully I felt so much ease and softness that I had never expierenced before.

From then I knew yoga was so much more than stretching, it was a holistic practice of breathwork, mindful movement and meditation that helped to ease many of my stressors and anxieties. There's a reason I continue to return to my mat again and again after almost 12 years!

This is why I became a yoga teacher, to share this expirence with others and that why I like to make sure my classes are open to all levels.

To ease your worries, I would like you to know all the yoga classes I teach are open to all. It's very important to me you feel comfortable and at ease in classes so I make sure almost every single pose I guide you into has at least 2 different variations for you to choose from.

Sneak peak inside the Get Flowin' membership 🌱

With the arrival of spring, a time of renewal & new life, it is the perfect time to bring new daily habits into your life, especially ones that can help relieve stress and promote feelings of groundedness.

As someone who often gets wrapped up in overwhelming thoughts and is met with feelings of anxiety and stress, these are the #1️⃣ habits that help support me every day.

SWIPE TO READ 👉

🫁 Psycological sigh - Taking a deep breath in and then exhaling with a sigh can activate the body's relaxation response, helping to reduce tension and promote a sense of calmness.

🦶Heel drops - This technique can help to ground you in the present moment, by focusing on the repetitive moment of challenging your balance by lifting the heels up and down can help shift your focus away from overwhelming thoughts.

🤝 Shake it out - Shaking movements can help discharge built-up tension & energy in the body. This practice can activate the parasympathetic nervous system, which helps to promote relaxation & relieve feelings of stress.

🌱 Get outside - Spending time outdoors, even for just a few minutes each day, exposes you to natural light and fresh air, which can have mood-boosting effects.

I know it can be difficult to add new habits into your busy day but I invite to try habit stacking. For example, after brushing your teeth take a few moments to take a few deep breaths maybe even using the inhale to lift up onto your toes and using the exhale release a sigh and drop into the heels. In those few moments you've added two new habits into your day!

Habits that support your wellbeing and relieve feelings of stress do not need to complicated but even a few moments to pause can make a huge difference!
