Camp Cares is a 501c3 organization created by The Camp Events to assist the homeless and disadvantaged.
We are getting ready!!
Calling for Volunteers for May's Camp Cares event!
The event will take place on Thurs, May 23rd, with prep work on Wednesday,May 22nd.
On Wednesday, we will use a small team to bring all inventory from the storage unit to the hotel and stage for bag stuffing by volunteers from 2 to 5.
On Thursday, there will be sandwich making in the morning at the hotel, then the event in Atlanta will be from noon to 3pm. The form to sign up is linked below. Just need your name and availability, even if it's for a partial day! (It's ok if you just want to make sandwiches! 😁)
At this time, we are limited on how many can be scheduled for the Thursday event, so let us know where you can help out! Thanks! If you have any issues with the sign up sheet or have any questions about volunteering, reach out to me! (Marianne Craig)
The event will have bag handouts of food and toiletries, haircuts, showers and Fun! 2 Boys BBQ will be back serving from the food truck and the church will be opening its clothing closet for a little shopping. We are not taking clothing donations this year.

As for this May's event, it will be scaled down a bit. On the sign up sheet, you will be asked to pick a day to volunteer, either Wed the 22nd from 2 to 6 for bag stuffing, or Thursday the 23rd, 9 to 1, for supply hand out.
We will not be taking clothing donations this year.

Update on our Fall Event coming next week, so standby!
Good Morning,
I wanted to take a moment and thank all who participated in the survey and the zoom last week. I thought I would share with you this amazing email I received this morning from Andrea Bailey with the Mayor of Atlanta's Office.
If you volunteered at our May 2023 Camp Cares event in Atlanta, could you please fill out this questionnaire to provide feedback, and assist us in making changes and improvements to our next event? Thank you very much!!
Finally getting around to posting some pictures
After a day of being a zombie at home, I wanted to take a moment and express my gratitude to each and every person who made the Event at Atlanta City Hall a huge success. Our inaugural event was more than I could have ever have imagined and was such a success. We fed and clothed at least 300 people, did over 60 showers and at least that many haircuts. We ended the event with only a few small boxes of stuff left. Yes, even my sardines were taken by attendees!!! I worried and stressed but it truly went off without any glitches. We had people coming from off the street offering services and wanting to set up tables and from what I can tell, our partners want to be there with us in the Fall. Al Boyce with 2 Boy's BBq had enough food for around 100 people. If you didn't know, he did full meals: collard greens, baked beans, fish, sausages, wings. When it was all said and done, I told Al he fed way more than 100 and that God gave him fishes and loaves so he could feed many many more. Refuge Coffee Co. kept the coffee flowing, and Five Daughters Bakery provided amazingly sweet donuts, while Brunch & Munch llc flipped dogs for all to enjoy. The Home Depot and Coca-Cola provided drinks that for so many were a sweet treat. Flowing With Blessings, Inc. thank you! NFL Alumni Georgia Chapter thank you! Ambetter Health Thank you! Aniz, Inc Thank you! Our House, Inc. Thank you!! Fulton County Health Department Thank you!
Casey Joseph-Miller and Thank you for giving the Campers the opportunity to run with this and make such a lasting impact on so many.
And you guys.... this is where it gets hard. When we began talking about doing this last fall one night on the front porch of the hotel with Robert Hayes and Cooper, we said, "we can do this". Marianne Craig and I began creating registries for things we knew would be needed. You all went deep into your pockets and began buying the items on the registries left and right. Several donated money which allowed us to buy tarps, new clothes, bags and more food and necessities. Then you all stepped up to volunteer your time to help make sure the event was safe and a success; from cutting hair, stuffing bags, sorting clothes, hauling stuff, handing out food and clothing, to dancing with the attendees.
To EVERY SINGLE PERSON reading this... it could not have happened without you! I am forever and eternally grateful for your time, donations, volunteering and being ever present through each step of this event. Thank you pales to how grateful I am for each of you.
City of Atlanta Government THANK YOU for partnering with us and being there for anything we needed!
Not only did we impact the lives for so many, but we as a Fanmily are helping a young lady get off the streets. She has a new job, two of our own will teach her to drive, and we collected more money on Thursday night to help put her in a hotel until her first checks start rolling in to her.
Now, we breathe and rest. Tomorrow, we begin working on our next event to be held in the Fall.
Thank you all so very much. I hope I haven't forgotten anyone.
My heart is overflowing with love and gratitude for each of you.
WOW! Words can't describe today's event! So let's express it with our photos! Please share your photos and videos from today!
