ADHA with our own Kimberly Henson UTHSC Class of 2021

Meet Kimberly Henson, RDH student from Memphis, TN. Back in July of 2019, Kimberly was encouraged to join ADHA by her instructors and is loving the member experience so far! As she eagerly awaits to add RDH to her name, she appreciates being included in all the zoom webinars for members. With all the challenges of 2020, she is taking every opportunity to better prepare for life as a practicing dental hygienist. One of her favorite things about being an RDH student is seeing the positive effect she has on her patients. Recently, a new patient at the clinic asked why she was taking extra time to do all the steps required by her school and check in with her instructors. Kimberly explained that she wants to make sure everything is safe and done the right way. While her patient appreciated it, she said all she really wanted was to have her teeth cleaned before the holidays so she wouldn’t be so embarrassed to smile. Hearing her patient’s concerns made Kimberly realize that what dental hygienists do makes a difference, even if it's as simple as someone wanting a nicer smile for holiday photos. Knowing she is able to help someone achieve a prettier and healthier smile makes her smile as well. For Kimberly, student success isn’t just about getting an A on a test, it’s about having the right attitude. If you believe in yourself and have confidence, you can achieve anything you set your mind to. She also believes the best career advice she ever received is to be adaptable to new things. This is especially true today as we navigate life during a pandemic and adapt to new PPE protocol and safety measures.

Thank you, Kimberly. Our ADHA community is lucky to have you!
