“Make peace to know peace”
Tools For Peace, 18th annual Summer Teen Camp.
Dear Supporters,
We are thrilled to share that we’ve just concluded our Summer Teen Camp, and we couldn’t be prouder! Our campers displayed incredible wisdom, our staff were truly inspiring, and none of this would be possible without amazing supporters like you. This year, 100% of our students attended on full scholarships, which fills our hearts with immense gratitude. If you share our vision of bringing Tools for Peace Programs to schools in Los Angeles, supporting these young, compassionate leaders with scholarships to camp each year, that’s so wonderful! Your support is crucial to continue serving our students. Please consider making a donation to inspire compassion and peace.
Warmly,
Mayme Donsker
Executive Director

This coming year, May kindness, compassion, joy, and equanimity increase towards oneself and countless others. May our hearts be full of gratitude and know peace.
Dear Community,
Although my heart is broken over the immense suffering in the world today, I try to remember to practice loving kindness. This is an essential chapter in our compassion-building curriculum at Tools for Peace.
I imagine there have been moments in all of our lives when an ordinary person has extended their kindness like a bright light; here's a story about a kind stranger who comes to mind.
When I was in labor, waiting in the hospital entryway to be admitted, I remember feeling a world of pain; all I could do was close my eyes and focus. A group of young people walked by. I didn't see them. I just heard them and felt the movement of the group. One young person, a teenage girl, spoke softly; she said,
"You’ve got this."
I will never forget receiving those kind words. It reminds me of this quote by Fred Rodgers. He said,
“If you could only sense how important you are to the lives of those you meet, how important you can be to the people you may never even dream of. There is something of yourself that you leave at every meeting with another person.”
Like me, if anyone needs to hear it this New Year's Eve: You’ve got this.
Warmly,
Mayme Donsker

Being Kind Is Good for Your Health (The Science of Happiness Podcast) Doing good for others benefits our own minds and bodies, as well. We explore the science of kindness.
We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to our donors for supporting us this Giving Tuesday. You inspired our students to pay it forward by dedicating this week to performing random acts of kindness!
Spreading Kindness Beyond Giving Tuesday! Yesterday, students at Thomas Starr King and Joseph Le Conte Middle School took the time to express their appreciation for those who make a difference in their lives, as well as someone in their community or school whom they do not know well. These simple acts of kindness can have a powerful and enduring impact. We encourage you to take a moment, not just on holidays but every day, to show how much you care. Every day is an opportunity to spread kindness and appreciation.
With gratitude,
Tools for Peace
This Giving Tuesday, Make a Kind Wish and Give!
