New Hanover County offices will be closed Monday, May 27th for Memorial Day.

Last night we proudly celebrated staff achievements at the 2024 New Hanover County Stellar Awards Banquet. These awards are given to NHC employees who exemplify one or more of our values in their work, were nominated for their exemplary service, and nomination approved by the Recognition Committee. Over the last year, we've collectively received 12 Stellar awards in our office, several of those gaining staff the Hall of Honor award. ​The Stellar Hall of Honor is the county's highest award. Over the course of one's career, this award represents the achievement of attaining separate awards in all six of the county's shared values: Professionalism, Integrity, Innovation, Stewardship, Accountability, and Equity. Congratulations to Angela English, Julie Foss, Sherry King and Shannon Zickefoose for their Stellar recognitions and congratulations to Morghan Getty Collins, Angela Davis, Avella Ballard, and Haley Moose for receiving the Hall of Honor awards. Your dedication to serve the public does not go unnoticed. Thank you for all that you do.

A year ago today, our Registrar Morghan Getty Collins established our office as a passport acceptance facility, bringing more availability to our citizens. So far, we have assisted with 1459 passports! We are so excited to continue with this and look forward to carrying this on for a long time.

What a privilege it was to host a workshop for 30 of our fellow NCARD members! Continuing education and collaboration with fellow Register of Deeds offices are such important components of what we do.

Per General Statute 48-9-107 (d), once notified by the State office, we are required to remove all record of an adoptee's birth certificate and forward our copy to State Vitals. After which time, the record can only be accessed through the State office. We understand it can be frustrating not being able to retrieve your documents locally.
