An unofficial motto in the Graduate Program is “Grads Together Friends Forever” but we hope our Graduate nurses make friends for life in their career 🫶

Milly and Carly represent this motto, both commenced their first rotation on 3S in 2020 and although went their separate ways for rotation two, formed a strong bond and developed a great friendship.

They are now both acting in charge nurses and amazing leaders and role models within 3S, heading off to Europe together soon!

At RMH colleagues are recognised by peers and patients for their dedication to excellent person-centred care, by putting people first and leading with kindness.

Charlotte, who has completed her first rotation in the a Rehabilitation ward at Royal Park was nominated in July. Here is what her nominator said about her:

“Charlotte goes above and beyond for her patients every single shift, which is a fabulous attitude from a rotation one GNP! Charlotte continues to get regular praise from her patients. Charlotte speaks up every time she has any concerns about her patients and is an excellent patient advocate”

Thank you Charlotte, your contribution makes a difference!

Rotation Two then starts clinically with 3 supernumerary shifts with an allocated preceptor or preceptor pod.

During this time Graduates work alongside their preceptor learning the clinical skills and time management for the area, as well as completing clinical competencies and credentialling required to safely care for patients.

Here are our Graduates who have rotated to Neurosurgery this week! Hope they had a great supernumerary week and feel confident to start their first week independent (with the support of their colleagues and education team)

Orientation and supernumerary week for the January cohort who have rotated to their second ward for the Graduate Nurse Program.

Graduates commence rotation two with a local area orientation facilitated by the Clinical Nurse Educators and Clinical Support Nurses within the specialty.

Graduates have time to meet the Nurse Unit Manager, learn about the speciality and nuances of the areas, as well as opportunity to socialise within the team.

Here are the Graduates who have rotated within the ‘General Surgery’ wards - 3S, 3SW and 4S.

Shout out to ACU Entry to Practice nurse Paris!

Paris received a specific mention in patient feedback after their stay at RMH.

“I want to call out specific student nurse who were just as professional as their full-time counterparts. Paris looked after me two nights in a row, and I felt I was in safe and capable hands. Beyond their professionalism, they recognised the tough time I was going through and engaged with me at a human level. They spent as much time with me whilst attending to the mountain of their other duties and I can honestly say I will always remember the kindness they showed me”

Well done Paris!

They danced and sung “put a little love in your heart” all the way down Fitzroy street. It was hot, sweaty and fun!

Joined the Royal Park Graduates debrief today, it was so great to hear how the January Graduates first week solo has been and tips and tricks from our 2023 GNPs.

Veronica - “It’s good! Supernumerary really helped to get the hang of being by yourself!”

Bianca - “At first it was really overwhelming, but I love the independence and taking the lead. It’s amazing to see how much I’ve grown”.
