What is BJJ?β£
β£
I don't really refer to it as bjj, I just call it jiu jitsu. It is its own sport and martial art now, with no real immediate links to any of the other martial art. Other than the fact that from its beginnings it probably started from Japanese Jiu Jitsu at the same time as Judo.β£
β£
To me Jiu Jitsu is a lifestyle. It's a whole concept, that delivers family ideals. Kids love it. We see a lot of kids training, their parents and relatives training, so it's becomes a whole family interest and it's something that families can all do together.β£
β£
I see it as a fundamental for kids to learn, for adults to learn, some people start later in life doesn't matter, you can still learn the same lessons. It creates a good foundation for problem solving and learning. I see it as a one of the biggest problem solving sports that there is. In jiu jitsu it's a massive problem solving exercise under extreme pressure. So what happens is people learn to apply this to their everyday life issues, business, family, whatever. They have built the confidence to believe they can find solutions. When we train, Its dynamic problems that are changing all the time. So we have to adapt really, really quickly. A lot of people will go through life, not really learning how to solve problems and when they do get a really big one, they just freak out.β£
