The young women of ʻAha ʻŌpio Wāhine, ages 11-17, find it hard to say goodbye after their monthly gatherings at Kīpuka Koʻolau Poko. Through this program, established by Liliʻuokalani Trust, they build confidence, explore their cultural identity, and strengthen their sense of kuleana (responsibility).
By blending ʻike kupuna (ancestral knowledge) with modern life skills, these girls are supported as they navigate school, family, and friendships post-pandemic. Together, they grow into empowered wāhine, embracing their purpose and future.

Hauʻoli lā hānau! Today, we honor and celebrate the 186th anniversary of the birth of Queen Liliʻuokalani.
Through the years, Queen Liliʻuokalani never faltered in her commitment to the people of Hawaiʻi. In her will, she entrusted her estate to provide for orphan children of Hawaiian blood, amended later to include other destitute children. Her legacy is perpetuated today through the Liliʻuokalani Trust.
Seven boys from Kīpuka Waiʻanae recently spent a transformative week at our LT Ranch in Waimea, Hawaiʻi Island, immersing in the paniolo lifestyle.
As part of LT's ʻŌpūaliʻi Hekili program, the boys connected with the ʻāina and animals, practicing Hawaiian values like Hōʻihi (respect) and Pilina (relationships) through animal care, Makaʻala (observation) in the garden, and Hoʻomalu (regulation) through creative art projects.
The trip fostered trust, reflection, and emotional growth, making it an unforgettable experience for these young kāne.

K**aliʻi from our ʻŌlino Summer Program turned their summer up a notch by learning from some of Hawaiʻi's top media pros! From hands-on camera work to bringing Hawaiian values to life, these young creators didn’t just learn the ropes—they owned it. Their crowning achievement? A music video for IZIK’s "Re-Creation."
IZIK spent time with the youth, describing the song’s moʻolelo, an allegory for Mauna Kea. Knowing the song’s backstory, the youth felt inspired to produce a video celebrating the ʻāina.
