Fostering gender equity & social justice via education, advocacy, support, & leadership development.
The Women’s Center amplifies the voices of students across all intersectional identities, including gender, race, ethnicity, ability, class, and sexual orientation. We use our space to create an inclusive community that empowers student leaders to transform campus climate through education, advocacy, support and leadership development. This week for Crafting and Connecting, we’ll continue our conversation on the Fabric of Life with our weaving crafts! This metaphor represents the interconnected experience of unique individuals belonging together in community. Like a piece of fabric, each of us is a different thread woven together to make a whole piece. Some of our threads are going in different directions, some going this way and some going that way. Still, the twists and turns of each thread meets in unity to create a complete piece that can always be added to at any time. We like to think of the NC State WolfPack in this way!
Join us for Crafting and Connecting in the Women’s Center lounge on the 5th floor of Talley every Thursday from 1pm-2:30pm. All supplies will be provided. Counselors from the Counseling Center will be on-site to facilitate the activity and assist participants in processing emotions. This is a drop-in space that is private and confidential. Students can also individually meet with counselors as well.
We can’t wait to get to get to Crafting and Connecting with you!
The Women’s Center in Talley Student Union will host an open house. Meet the staff, learn how to get involved at the center, and grab a snack and some swag. If you can, stop by the open house events at the LGBTQ Pride Center and Multicultural Student Affairs!

February's theme for Crafting and Connecting is all about music! To kick it off on Thursday, February 1, we'll be creating affirmation cards that connect to a song. The way we talk to ourselves is important, whether we're proud of ourselves or we're having a bad day. An affirmation is a short statement that we can say to ourselves that validates and uplifts us. Affirmations are helpful brain hacks that have the power to help us cope with stress and even work towards reframing the way we think about ourselves. We invite you to pick an affirmation that you need to hear from yourself and identify a song that relates back to it! While we create our affirmation cards, you'll have the chance to play the song you identified!
Join us for Crafting and Connecting in the Women's Center lounge on the 5th floor of Talley every Thursday from 1 - 2:30 p.m. Counselors from the Counseling Center will be on-site to facilitate the activity and assist participants in processing emotions.
