Proud to be recognized in today's New York State Association of Counties (NYSAC) Member Monday post!

This ahead of County Finance School, we're recognizing Albany County Comptroller Susan Rizzo!

First elected in 2020, Rizzo helped lead Albany County through the Covid pandemic while maintaining a strong credit rating (AA w/ Stable Outlook) and upholding its responsibility to annually audit over 55,000 expense/vendor claims, conduct multiple departmental petty cash reviews and dozens of hotel audits to ensure operators compliance with county hotel occupancy tax requirements.

Last year, Rizzo worked closely with the Department of Management & Budget to strategically invest County surplus funds to maximize investment returns, generating and estimated $15 million in revenue.

Prior to county service, Rizzo served as Chief Auditor for the City of Albany as well as Portfolio Asset Manager for the Los Angeles County Firemen Pension Fund.

Thank you Comptroller Rizzo for your dedicated service to Albany County!

Thank you to Albany County Legislature Chairwoman Joanne Cunningham and the Women’s Legislative Caucus for hosting Women’s History Month with a special event honoring women's impact on food and culture.

This event gave us a glimpse into the powerful subject of Gastronomy, studying the relationship between food, culture and tradition and how facets of Gastronomy work together to empower women from all backgrounds.

Local chefs from around the county shared tasty bites that represent their story of championing equity and inclusion through cuisine. With the help of an enlightened moderator, leaders in the women's restaurant scene shares the meaning of the dish they’ve prepared for the event. They also provided insight into how their business helps them to feel empowered in their community, and shine a light on what keeps their passion burning in the kitchen.
