Happy fall! School is in session, and daycares are ALWAYS in session. During October, we want to give a special shout-out to our BID-located daycares, including Auntie Fe Fe Child Development Center, BHLA, Dreamland Child Care 4, Four Seasons Early Learning Center, Leading Paths Child Development Center, Libby’s Fun House Pristine Childcare. Each of these BID childcare facilities aims to provide a safe environment where children can socialize and play with children their age and participate in both fun and educational activities daily. Checking in on progress at ThriveOn in the former Schuster's on King Dr. The conversion of the old Schuster's on King Drive has been underway now for a while and we went back over to take another look at the progress of building out a headquarters for the ThriveOn Collaboration.

We are celebrating Black Owned Business Month throughout the month of August by highlighting black owned businesses in our Main Street communities! Today we are recognizing JenGer Doll Medical Wigs and Accessories in King Drive Is in Milwaukee. Jennifer Brown, owner of JenGer Doll Medical Wigs and Accessories, is currently renovating her storefront in the King Drive district. Once complete she will provide specially designed wigs for patients who sugger hair loss due to medical treatment. In addition, she is working towards both Medicare and Medicaid reimburesment, as well as private pay. Her goal is to bring confidence to her customers by providing them with education and options.

We're still celebrating Black Owned Business Month. Thank you Wisconsin Main Street for recognizing a Historic King Drive Business and the region's first female-black-owned indoor cycle studio.

Join us today Thursday, August 24, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 pm, Dr. Boyce, author of 10 Commandments of Black Economic Power, will be hosting a fireside chat with Alderman Russell W. Stamper, II to discuss his book and the guidelines of economic Black power.

Throughout the years of this collaboration, the two friends and owners became entrepreneurs who learned how to lean on each other's strengths while training and trusting their staff to make this a go-to place for meetings, family brunches, and more.
